RADIOLOGY
The Department of Radio-diagnosis at M.R.Medical College started functioning along with all the other clinical departments in collaboration with District Hospital, Gulbarga with 2 X-ray machines under the able guidance of Head of the department Dr.S.Shankar.
Post graduate course got recognized by MCI in the year 1983-84 starting with DMRD course. Post graduates were posted at District hospital initially. Later MDRD course also got recognized by MCI in the year 1992.
Currently the dept. has 4 MD & 4 DMRD seats
Ultrasound machine was introduced to the department at District Hospital in the year 1987
The department started working at Basaveshwar Teaching & General Hospital (BTGH) from the year 1989, with one X-ray machine 500mAh (wipro GE system) & one Ultrasound machine which was introduced in the year 1990. District Hospital staff member were deputed to Apollo Hospital (Hyderabad) for training in USG for 1 month. Two more Ultrasound machine were added in the year 2003.
Later from the year 2004 the department started working independently at BTGH under Dr.S.C.Desai as Head of the Dept. of Radio-diagnosis
C.T. Scan (conventional, HITACHI) was added to the department in the year 1990, under the presidency of Dr. B.G.Jawali. In the same year staff was deputed to Japan (TOKYO) for 1month training in CT Scan.
Later in the year 2008 it was upgraded to multi Slice CT Scan (Philips) under presidency of Shri.Basavaraj Bhimalli.
Foundation Stone was laid down by president Shri. Shashil.G.Namoshi in the year 2010 for the new MRI block, which took 2 yrs for the complete establishment with MRI 1.5 tesla (Philips,Achieva) machine which was inaugurated in the year 2012
Mammography and Digital x-ray (CR System) machine were also included in the year 2012
Two new Ultrasound Color Doppler machines of GE make models

Currently the department is functioning full fledged with all imaging modalities.
