ANAESTHESIOLOGY

The Department of Anaesthesiology was established as a seperate speciality more than two decades ago. The architect of Department of Anaesthesia was Dr. T M Chandrashekar who later became Dean of the college. He was ably assisted by Dr. R N Shetty

Initially it was under the Department of Surgery. Since its inception with basic anaesthesia facilities and minimum staff it has transformed to advanced well developed speciality macthing the standards of any updated and efficient anaesthesia department the work was carried forward by Dr. B V Modi.

The Department has expanded its horizons including anaesthesia for super specialities like Neuro Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Peadiatric Surgery apart from other surgical branches under guidance of Prof & HOD Dr. Awati M N

The role of an Anaesthetist is not confined only to OT but also in investigate procedures along with radiology, endoscopies and also in patient care in Critical Care units of Cardiac, Nuerology, renal and General Medicine.
