Brief Introduction of Department.

The Department of OBG is functioning since the beginning of the college 1965-66,it was headed by Dr.B.B.Dhaded who was also the principal of the college. Postgraduate admissions were started in the year 1979.
Dr.B B Dhaded was succeded by Dr.G.Meenakshi, Dr.ParvatiDevi, Dr.Shakuntala.Banale, Dr.B.Sarvottam Rao, The Present HOD being Dr.Gangambika.M.Nisty.
We have a well organized department with experienced staff, a well equipped Labour room, Maternal Intensive care Ward (For care of high-risk pregnancies)and a well-equipped O-T for management of Obstetric and gynecological emergencies.
Our department is actively involved in the sphere of normal health of women. In this regard, we have conducted innumerable camps for screening of anemia in teenage girls & pregnant women, screening of cancer cervix and other malignancies in women.
Along with health checkup we have also delivered lectures on teenage health & hygiene, antenatal care, care & problems of perimenopausal & postmenopausal women.
Among the innumerable camps the notable ones include the following.
1. Ultrasound camp at Sangameshwar Hospital under the guidance of HOD Dr.Parvatidevi Patil
2. Health checkup camp for menopausal women under guidance of HOD Dr.Shakuntala Banale.- 26,27,28, Jan-2002.
3. Health checkup camp and visual aids for Adolescent girls under the guidance of HOD Dr.Shakuntala Banale. -26,27, Jan -2004
4. Camp for infertile women under the guidance of HOD Dr.Gangambika.M.Nisty.
5. PAP Smear screening camp in the year 2002 at Sedam, Hebbal, Raichur(Shakti nagar)
We regularly conduct CME's involving our staff, postgraduates, Gynecologists, practicing in the city & also from neighboring places like Shahapur , Yadgir, Humnabad, Bidar, Raichur. In association with the local OBGYN Society many Lecture series are conducted by the department conducted, thus contributing to the updating of knowledge and improving our ability to deal with the various aspects of women's health care.
