A Profile
The M.R Medical College’s Department of Biochemistry was established in 1963 under the dynamic leadership of Professor & Head Dr. S.V.V. Rao. In recent years a new facelift has been given to the Biochemistry lecture hall making it fully air-conditioned with state-of-the-art audio-visual aids and acoustics. The departmental library is one of the best with a collection of 390 books and subscriptions to 10 national/international journals.
The Clinical Biochemistry Department at Basaveshwara Teaching and General Hospital has been upgraded with equipment like Biolis 50-i, Roche C-111, Centaur CP (SIEMENS), Nova Biomed, Electrolyte analyzers, and more.
Several members of the department have held responsible positions in administration. The department has published 23 original research articles and hosted CMEs supported by research grants from national agencies.

The Department of Biochemistry aims to promote higher values in education, healthcare, and research, while maintaining ethics and professionalism.

A modern 1500 sq. ft. facility that operates 24/7. Processes 300+ samples and 1800+ tests daily. Offers both routine and special tests.
