Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College

The Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society (HKES) established under the leadership of Late. Sri Mahadevappa Rampure in the year 1958.

Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College was established in Kalaburagi in 1963. It became the second private medical college in India to receive recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI). Initially affiliated with Gulbarga University until 1995, the college later came under the affiliation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru.

Spread across a vast 11+-acre campus, Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC) comprises a four-storey academic block, separate hostels for male and female students, a well-equipped sports complex, an auditorium, and modern seminar and lecture halls with advanced audiovisual facilities. The college currently admits 150 students annually into its undergraduate MBBS program and offers postgraduate MD/MS courses in 19 specializations, covering Clinical, Para-clinical, and Pre-clinical disciplines.

The central library is comprehensively resourced, containing over 28,000 textbooks and subscriptions to 109 academic journals, including 31 international titles. It also provides digital services such as HELINET access, computer terminals, and MEDLINE systems. A state-of-the-art virtual simulation laboratory has been established to provide immersive, hands-on training. This facility allows students and healthcare professionals to safely develop critical skills such as CPR, intubation, and defibrillation using high-fidelity mannequins.

MRMC also serves as one of the designated regional centre under the National Medical Commission (NMC) across India.

Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC) is affiliated with two major teaching hospitals: Basaveshwara Teaching and General Hospital, and Sangameshwar Teaching Hospital. These hospitals provide both high-quality clinical training for medical students and comprehensive healthcare services to the people of Hyderabad Karnataka region. It accommodates around 1400 beds and offers round-the-clock emergency care.

The Hospital is well-equipped with a central laboratory, blood bank, research center, library facilities, and modern lecture halls. Key medical infrastructure includes an Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU),Surgical ICU, HDU for Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fully equipped Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) & PICU, Neuro ICU & Ultra modern, well equipped Emergency Dept. Modular OT”s for operation, MRI & CT Scan.

The campus offers a range of student amenities such as canteens, banking facilities, transport services, a gymnasium, sports zones, and internet access throughout the premises.

The institute boasts a vast network of alumni who have made their mark across the globe, contributing meaningfully to the community in diverse roles. Among them is Dr. Vivek Jawali, a distinguished cardiothoracic surgeon at Fortis Hospital, Bengaluru, Several alumni have earned acclaim through their affiliations with prestigious institutions: Dr. Sharan Patil (Sparsh Hospital, Bengaluru), and Dr. Shekhar Patil (HCG Hospital, Bengaluru). Late Dr. Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Sharanprakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education, Dr. Neeraj Patil, former Mayor of London Borough of Lambeth, UK.

Facilities

Rules & Regulations of Medical College

  1. Students must strictly follow the college rules and respect faculty and management.
  2. Dress Code: Clean white aprons must be worn on campus. Do not wear aprons outside the college.
  3. Punctuality: Students must be seated 5 minutes before class starts. Latecomers will not be allowed.
  4. Attendance: Minimum 80% attendance in both theory and practical. Absence requires prior written permission.
  5. No malpractices during tests/exams. Prior written permission is needed to be absent.
  6. Maintain discipline: No shouting or loud noise. Do not stand in corridors or approach strangers unnecessarily.
  7. No ragging or harassment. Violators will be punished as per NMC regulations (2021).
  8. Mobile phones are banned in classrooms, labs, library, and hospital wards. Confiscated phones will not be returned.
  9. No smoking, alcohol, drug use, or misbehavior. Violators will face disciplinary action or removal.
  10. Damage to property will result in a fine and recovery of costs.
  11. Mentorship: Each group of students will be assigned a mentor. Details will be announced.
  12. Counseling: Students with academic or personal issues may approach faculty or mentors.
  13. Parents should regularly check on their ward’s progress and attend meetings when summoned.
  14. Misconduct may lead to fines, suspension, or expulsion.
  15. Firearms or weapons are strictly prohibited.
  16. Any serious physical or mental illness must be reported to authorities.
